Know Your Ships? Meet The Author!

The Blue Water Area is well known as a spot to watch commodious freighters cut their way through the waves on to their destinations. One of the best places to see them pass is at Port Huron's Vantage Point where the Great Lakes Maritime Center is located. Often, you will see people referring to the book Know Your Ships to find out more facts and trivia about the big boats that are making their trip through the 40-mile stretch that is St. Clair River which, at it's north point, leads into Lake Huron.

Now in its 57th edition the book, authored and edited by Roger LeLievre, is considered the bible when it comes to Great Lakes ship watching.  Factor that in along with the Maritime Center considered by as the ship watching capital of the Great Lakes, there is no more proper place to have Roger do a signing of the book.

This weekend he'll do exactly that.

Returning for his 10th year, Roger will be at the GLMC to meet and chat with fellow avid freighter spotters this Saturday, April 16th, from 10am-3pm. He will have copies of the 2016 edition of the book for sale and to sign.

Also, bring the kids to the Maritime this Saturday to not only watch the boats go by but to also make one of their own. The Great Lakes Nautical Society will be on hand with Model Ship Building Kits for Kids 12 and under from noon to 3pm this Saturday.

Find out more about these happenings as well as plenty of other things going on around the Blue Water Area at our events page.
